Specialized Orthonormal Frames and Embedding

We discuss some specializations of the frames of flat orthonormal frame bundles over geometries of indefinite signature, and the resulting symmetries of families of embedded Riemannian or pseudo-Riemannian geometries. The specializations are closed sets of linear constraints on the connection 1-forms of the framing. The embeddings can be isometric, as in minimal surfaces or Regge–Teitelboim gra...

G-Frames, g-orthonormal bases and g-Riesz bases

G-Frames in Hilbert spaces are a redundant set of operators which yield a representation for each vector in the space. In this paper we investigate the connection between g-frames, g-orthonormal bases and g-Riesz bases. We show that a family of bounded operators is a g-Bessel sequences if and only if the Gram matrix associated to its denes a bounded operator.

Orthonormal Dilations of Non-tight Frames

We establish dilation theorems for non-tight frames with additional structure, i.e., frames generated by unitary groups of operators and projective unitary representations. This generalizes previous dilation results for Parseval frames due to Han and Larson [6] and Gabardo and Han [5]. We also extend the dilation theorem for Parseval wavelets, due to Dutkay, Han, Picioroaga, and Sun [4], by ide...

2 Building tight frames from orthonormal bases

We present an interesting result regarding the implication of truncating the wavepacket of the harmonic oscillator. We show that disregarding the non-significant tails of a function which is the superposition of eigenfunctions of the harmonic oscillator has a remarkable consequence. Namely, there exit infinitely many different superpositions giving rise to the same function on the interval. Uni...

Shear madness: new orthonormal bases and frames using chirp functions

The proportional-bandwidth and constant-bandwidth timefrequency signal decompositions of the wavelet, Gabor, and Wilson Manuscript received August 21, 1992; revised May 26, 1993. The Guest Editor coordinating the review of this paper and approving it for publication was Dr. Patrick Flandrin. This work was supported in part by the Sound Group of the computer-based Education Research Laboratory, ...
